Had a few trips on Hartwell lately. Water temps are mostly in the low 50’s We finally have some muddy water in the creeks. A lot of people freak out about the mud but it tends to concentrate the bait and fish. Threadfins, which are the primary forage of most of the gamefish all winter, love a little stain to the water. I find a lot of fish just above or just below the stain/clean water mix lines. My normal routine of pulling and casting threadfin imitators produced very well in these areas.

I am also finding a lot of crappie in the creeks with stained water. Darker colored hair jigs by Black Sheep Jig Company and small slab tails from Fish Stalker are producing really well.
